Hearty German settlers came to Mt. Angel, Oregon over 100 years ago. Through their struggle and perserverance, Mt. Angel has grown to become the "Jewel of the Willamette Valley."
Mt. Angel Brewing Company was founded by the Traeger family who also manufacture commercial barbecues and smokers, heating and ventilating equipment and pellet-fired outdoor products.
Constructed in 1911, the 7,500 sq. ft. Brewery and Restaurant once served as a bagged potato warehouse, a baled hop warehouse, and a feed & seed co-op. The building was the central "hub" of Mt. Angel during the 30's and 40's,
and served as headquarters for the "Flax Festival," precursor to the current "Oktoberfest."
When the historic structure was purchased by Traeger Industries in 1995, it required significant renovation. The Traeger family accomplished the extensive remodel with their own labor in six months. The renovation began in January, 1995 and was completed in July, 1995. The photo on the right displays the building prior to the remodel.
The Traeger's are also talented cooks and quite often they will don their aprons and jump into the kitchen. If not in the kitchen, you will most likely find Joe, Mark and Randy Traeger at their Mt. Angel manufacturing plant, Traeger Industries.
Mt. Angel's Oktoberfest is Oregon's 3rd largest public event and the largest folk festival west of the Mississippi river, happening every year in September. Please visit the official site of the
